Understanding heritage significance

This qualitative case report examines the cultural significance and preservation of Zahir-ol-Islam House in Tehran. Archival records, documents, direct observations and physical evidence are brought together to interpret the building’s development and heritage values.

The study considers the Burra Charter framework in an Iranian conservation setting, connecting the understanding of significance with context-sensitive conservation policy and management.
