Preparing and Monitoring Project Budgets

Once the project is underway, I contribute to:

  • Developing detailed cost breakdowns (labour, materials, overheads)

  • Setting up project budget structures for tracking

  • Allocating costs to WBS items and controlling budget utilization

  • Forecasting cash flows and aligning them with the construction schedule

Assisting in Early-Stage Cost Estimation

During the initiation and pre-construction phases, I collaborate with quantity surveyors and commercial teams to:

  • Review drawings and specifications

  • Conduct quantity take-offs from architectural and structural documents

  • Estimate costs of materials, labor, and subcontractor services

  • Build preliminary budgets for client approval or tender submission

Supporting Financial Reporting and Claims

I assist in preparing:

  • Monthly financial reports for clients and management

  • Budget variance analysis

  • Cost-related documentation required for progress claims and client invoicing

  • Recommendations for value engineering where applicable

Managing Cost Control on Site

Throughout the execution phase, I monitor:

  • Material and subcontractor invoices

  • Progress payments vs actual work done

  • Change orders and variations

  • Cost-impact analysis of design or schedule changes

This ensures real-time visibility into cost performance and helps identify overruns before they escalate.
